  Old  Promoting 100dollarcontest.com

Hi,

I along with a friend have started http://www.100dollarcontest.com

Even though we're giving away $100 easily, we're having a hard time in promoting the site. Any suggestions would be most welcomed.

Thanks,
Pratik

Honestly, the site looks too tacky and cluttered to be seen as something legit.

I personally disagree with your comments on the layout. The layout is very Web 2.0ish, tableless. I'd really of great help if there are more inputs.

Thanks,
Pratik

The design certainly isn't the problem in my opinion.

Promoting a site like this can be difficult as you need to find people with nothing better to do than enter your contests. This means aiming for people who are bored/young/crazy enough to be interested. Try advertising on sites that have a similiar target audiance to you, humor sites etc. If you know of any large general forums for that kind of thing stir up a frenzy about one of your contests.

It's not going to be easy due to the randomness but once you've managed to whirl up a storm (and people know you are legit) ad you have past contest entries to showcase on your site then it will boom I think.

Good luck with it, let us know how you progress

try advertising on sites like collegehumor and other sites like that. I agree with the other poster who said you are looking for "bored/young/crazy " people.

I would agree with the above. Plus the myspace idea is honestly a good one. Who else is more bored than people who update their myspace 5 hours everyday? In any case, the site actually looks like fun. BRB painting my body so I can win $100.

Why not hire an SEO to promote your site, i mean an expert in the field.
Good optimization and promotion can give your site the exposure you need
