Old  Incorporating space invader character into my logo. Yay or Nay?

Hello,

I'm mocking up a few concepts for my logo and I'd love to incorporate a space invaders character into it.

Would something like this be allowed? Unethical? Or am I OK?

If the creative elements already exist, then it is unethical to use them in your logo.
If you are creating original elements yourself, then why would it be wrong?

Old  Maybe. Sprite art can be awesome!

If you design your own Space Invader like sprites, then heck yeah! But using the actual space invader sprites from the game would be a bad idea. Be creative and make you're own sprite in photoshop or even paint. Just zoom up close to the image and color each pixel individually to make your sprites. You can even have them animated if you like and save them as a gif. Here is one I created of Link from "The Legend of Zelda":

And here is an article about sprite art I read the other day. Note that this website also uses space invaders in their logo, so it might not be as original as you hoped. But all the more reason to create your own sprite
Good Luck!!

P.S. if you use photoshop to create them, make sure to use the pencil tool to draw the pixels, and the pencil eraser to erase!

It all depends on the licenses for the images, if it is actually space invaders you may be infringing on their intellectual property which is a bad idea. Spritelib GPL may have what you want, they have some space invaders like images. Email the creator and ask him about it (spritelib is designed for amateur game developers).
