Old  [Debate] Should we be allowed to hit disobedient kids?

I saw this video over on wht earlier today and was quite shocked tbh, it basically shows a bus driver grabbing a young kid (around 15 we're lead to believe) around the throat after he swears at him. A little background to the clip, the kids were misbehaving and the bus driver had to stop the bus.

What do you think about the video clip? Should he be fired? Should he recieve any sort of punishement? Or did the kid deserve it?

I'm all for a slap on the wrist now and then, imo he shouldn't have cursed at the bus driver....but I think he took it too far. I would have sacked him and given the kids a warning or something.

The nature of this debate is subjective to the scenario in question really, disobediant kids need a good hiding now and again.

Theres a difference between a good hiding and crossing the line. That guy should be fired. Leave the punishment to the parents and if you cant handle it tell the kid to walk.

I saw this on the news. There was another incident where the bus driver stoped the bus at a offramp and the kids had to walk home.

Now I want to confirm one thing. This was a school bus wasn't it? In the video there were just kids so I am assuming this was a school bus.

That kid deserved it. There's tons of kids like that around and I'd love to see that happen.
My group of friends love our bus drivers and always have a laugh with them, we usually see kids who we'd like to have a thrashin because they deserve it.
The kid's fault for pushing the bus driver to his breaking point.
It's funny how when the bus driver actually gets off that kid, that he goes upto and tries to act hard saying that he'd floor him in one, he's lucky that the bus driver didn't 'try him' or he wouldn't have been getting off that bus alive...

Also I just saw, that when the boys head was in front of the camera, the boy that the bus driver had grabbed was fighting back, so although it mite have looked like the bus driver started it, it was the kids fault, he pushed the bus driver to do it and hit the driver in the face when he had him in the seat at the back.

It's also funny how these kids have so high - pitch voices except for one of the smallest.

The main problem nowadays is the fact that kids are having kids, and can't discipline them correctly or bring them up properly.

That kid had it coming. The bus driver didn't do anything wrong in my opinion.

Although I agree that the child was completely out of line and should be punished for his remarks. The bus driver at no time has the right to touch a child and charges should be pressed. Don't buses encourage a "bully-free zone?" Funny how a bus driver is creating the violence .
