Do you have ad blocking turned on?
This is something i've only recently known about, the banners that some websites show are often blocked out by browsers because of ad blocking software on their computer. Does anyone here use this type of software? I'm also interested in what can be done to prevent advertising being blocked from a publishers point of view?

I have FireFox's default pop-up blocking thing, but when at home i use Maxthon's AdBlocker (on site ads, and pop-ups) are turned off.

I do have adblocking software (Firefox's Adblock Extension), but i've found that text based ads can't be removed with it.
Iframes are usually the easiest to wipe out.
I'm not a furious blocker though.. I'll keep ads shown to sites I'm visiting.. like this one. Since it's all relevant to me etc.

I used to use this firefox extension called AdBlock, but it doesn't remove all text-based ads, and usually when browsing image-heavy sites such as galleries or art sites, it makes the sites loading times several times slower. So I don't use it anymore.

I turn ad-blocking off, this is due to some games websites which I use that require pop-ups to be enabled

Yes, I have software that I use to block ads (ie popups, popunders) and sometimes I turn on the adblocker that blocks banners and adwords. It depends on where I'm going to surf wether I turn on all the options on the software or not. Popups drive me nuts.

My eyes have built in ad-ignore, which just pretty much ignores most all ugly flashing ads
