Should I do this?

So me and my mom were talking and there are new office builds being built up the street and I was wondering if she (my mom) should open up a store for web development but me as the web developer (as I am only 14 soon to be 15 in 11 days). Do you think this could work out if I was the developer? And my mom said she would work there as the developer and get the clients and talk with them about the site and I would develop the sites.

It could work, but you need to be sure you can definetely afford it in case it falls back on you. On a different note, please come on MSN now.

You need to have a strong business plan and talk this through, just getting clients online (locally as well) is very difficult without good experience and quality. Opening a store is costly especially for the property, equipment and etc. You can't just open a store unless you're confident you can do it. You have a huge chance of failing but you need to understand failing in such a thing like this you will lose thousands of dollars which is very devestating. Obviously if you become a well known company you will gain many things.

But make sure you and your mother or whom ever you're discussing the financial and company (business) has a good plan with a good budget in cash.

You have to pay for electrical, you can't work full time so I see no point in this...have to pay taxes, lot fees, gas (Unless you want to die of cold or heat).

Plus I have had 8 clients locally, I approuced 15...7 of them turned me down because I was young...

A company I used to work for, they did web development in their bedroom until they got a nice list of clients. They managed to get the NHS as one of their clients, they were designing the applications for the computers at the NHS symposiums, and also designing the NHS stand as well. I believe that was the turning point for them when they realised they could afford to move into a small office, but even when I left, Don was struggling with money and was considering selling his Subaru. So it's not easy even with a constant flow of clients.

I wouldn't recommend doing it. You can easily work at your house for cheaper, and still get local clients.

Just curious, don't you have to pay for a Trademarked name?

Yeah, you do. Also for registering a business and such, you do.

Don't do it, just work from your home. Meet up with clients at restaurants or coffee shops when it comes time to discuss things face to face.
