I used notepad for around 5 years until I was told of the free open source Crimson Editor. Plus it is free.
As for displaying a Designed in Notepad button to look more pro...hmm, I don't think so.

Didn't know i could add syntax highlighting, only edit the colour.
I've also been using textpad once i saw a link (about a year ago). Love the simple design, low ram and custom coding adding
However there is microsoft expressions (everything from images to flash to html) coming out soon and i may be using the web editor from that

Dreamweaver 8, must be 3-4 times faster than writing it by hand. I can also add that I have never used notepad to code a site.

Crimson Editor FTW.
I despise using WYSIWYG editors unless its really necessary, like for area / image maps / hotlinks (whatever you call them). Plus, at an average of 120 wpm I'm still almost as fast as a WYSIWYG (except with cleaner code).

I use Visual Studios .NET IDE for XHTML, CSS, VB.NET, JAVASCRIPT.
For PHP I use php designer 2005.

UltraEdit.
I first used it when I started working where I work now. We have an enterprise-wide license (probably between 5-7,000 users). I also use it at home. It's about 100x more useful than notepad. Right out of the box it syntax highlights pretty much every language you can think of and templates for any others are available on the web.
It's definitely a programmer's text editor.
