That's what I use DW for now, to check for errors and the Find and Replace tool comes in handy.

I barely have to code aything from scratch anymore because I just reuse code from previous sites. A few minor adjustments and it's good to go.

I use Microsoft Frontpage but I am going to switch to Dreamweaver because I hear it's a lot better. I never learned how to hand code. I know I should of and I still have time but with programs these days it will be easier.

I can kindov hand code, and i try to use it, for the sole purpose of learning, it gets quite boring, and i would preferably use dreamweaver, but i want to learn also saying you make websites in notepad makes you seem very inteligent, lol.

how coding is more clear and everytime you handcode you get familiar with all your coding style.

The advantage i see in dreamweaver is that ir organizes all your info clearly but it uses a lot of space and takes a lot from your wallet.

I mainly use dreamweaver for viewing css and clearing my text up, and also for php purposes.

it's blasphemy to talk about text editors and not mention Vim

it's extremely lite
it has different modes which means you can totally scale it to suit your needs
it's the default editor on all Unix/Linux systems
you can control/disable/configure every single aspect of the editor via its configuration file or even from within the editor

many many many more features. IMO, it's the best editor on the planet...but it takes some getting used to. you will probably hate it for the first month of using it, but once you get the hang of it, you will realize exactly how convenient it is and you will never want to switch ever again.

by the way, does DW's "find & replace" feature support "regular expressions"?

Does dreamweaver not produce standard complient code?
i have only used notepad when i was learning some PHP stuff or following some type of tutorial. i use dreamweaver, but most of the stuff i do in dreamweaver is typed, it makes things easier with the autocompletion stuff such as when you start to type <d it puts <div></div> etc. plus having features such as search and replace, code formatting, etc makes dreamweaver even nicer if you care what your code looks like
