It seems google have a browser ready for launch or in the making.

What are the odds it will overtake IE / Firefox?

The whole Gbrowser thing has been in the air for ages. Personally, I think if they ever did work on a browser, they'd just team up with the Mozilla Foundation.

It could be true, it most likely is true, but it could as well be a photoshopped screenshot... guess we just have to wait and see what Google has in store for us.

Or it could be Googlebot mistaken for a browser.

With all the things Google is coming out with lately (viva la web accelerator), I'm really not surprised that they would. However, this scares me as much as the thought that Google could track us exactly using a browser. Yes, down to keystrokes.

Didn't one of the developers on the team used to be a lead developer at Mozilla, or is he still the lead developer?

I heard they were working with guys from Microsoft and Mozilla. Looks like good evidence though, no doubt they will release a browser sooner or later, wonder if it will have a google toolbar built in? Would be pretty good imo.
