Very nice article!

Another myth, which someone may be able to dispell, is that i have heard that submitting your link to google may actaully negatively affect your page rank. In other words its better to let google come find you rather than actively adding your site.

I am sometimes a little cautious with submitting to top sites. Normally I will only add my site to a "Top Site List" if there is significant traffic reciprocation. If I send someone 100 vistors a day I would like to see that in return.

I would certainly be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

BTW nice article.

Firstly, thanks for your comments.

Secondly, it is better to trade with sites that offer static links with supporting relevant anchor text.

2 things have to be cleared up here:

Firstly, having a low PR site link to you does not negatively effect your PR rank. Only if you link to a low PR site will it lower your PR.

Secondly, having your link on link farms is fine as long as you don't link to them.
