Banner Rotator Question
Hello,
I was thinking of developing a javascript banner rotator, or paying someone to develop it for me. Is it possible to make a file where you add the banner links and other information and stuff, and also somewhere where you can set the number of page views the particular banner is given until it stops getting viewed... Is this actually possible with Javascript? Or something along those lines?
Thanks if you can help,
Alex.

There are tons of free rotators available already, why not use one?

It is possible with Javascript + AJAX. I could do this for you for about $135.

using PHP it would be easy.
Code:
<?php
$banner = rand(1,10);
echo "<img src='.../images/banners/banner$banner.jpg/'>";
?>
something like that would give you a random banner... you will need to edit it based on your situation. If you give me how many you have and the directory they are in, I can change it to your needs. If you want a visual interface to adding banners I can code that for you for about $10. Please let me know. MSN preferably.
Sincerely,
Jordan Martin

In a case like this, I would suggest getting it done properly, and not going for a quick solution. Banner rotation scripts are highly useful and reusable! I could do it for you, but Wildhoney called first, and from what I can tell on the forums, he'd probably do a fantastic job!

I would stick with php & mysql doing this. It is a very easy and basic script to write. You would use mysql to store the view information and file information and use the php to do the mysql updates, inserts, and such.
I personally have in the past worked with phpBanner Exchange Gold. Updating it to suit my needs and using it to run a banner change. The underlying code would be the same.
