  Old  The right camera..

Hey guys! I'm really looking into getting into photography but don't really have a clue about what camera to get.

I'm obviously amateur, but feel i have some kind of nack when it comes to taking a good photo, so i wouldn't want anything shizer if you know what i mean.

I know that i want a digital camera, pref an SLR (unless you guys think otherwise?) Been looking at these, but would like to know if they're suitable and good for taking pictures, as i don't want to be wasting my money obviously, but if you guys direct me to a decent one, price wouldn't really matter, as long as it was under 400GBP. Then i can save up for it.

Option 1: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...%2Bcameras.htm

Option 2:

Option 3:

Final Option:

Thanks (Y) much appreciated help.

I suggest the Sony Alpha. Awesome DSLR, really clear and crisp shots with great quality at 10 MP...works with any konica minolta lenses you may have lying around too, since Sony took over KM's camera business when KM decided to leave for medical imaging. xD

But seriously. Take a look. I bought mine at around $600.

(300 GBP)

Well blindchild recommend the Nikon D50 but they discontinued it so then he recommended the Nikon D40. I bought both of them to try them both out I have to say they both work amazingly. i recommend getting the Nikon d40 as its cheaper and easier to find.

Discontinued? What does this mean matey?

I've found tones of Nikon D50's on ebay, and narrowed down to 3, including the 18-55mm lenses, and one with 18-55mm + 55-200mm lenses.

But money aside, whats the better camera? D40 or D50.

There both about the same D50 is just a more expensive model and is aimed probably more at the pros (not me lol)

that word means the company no longer produces the camera, there are hundreds on ebay, its just a matter of fact, are the worth it, in my opinion they both do just as good. I prefer the D40 over the D50 actually, I am going to be giving my D50 to my friend as a b-day present next week.

Edit: 400th post

Oh nice

Shame i'm not your friend, my b-day sunday =P hah. Very nice of you though, what a lovely present.

Cheers for the advice, gonna start looking into the D40s! Cheers.

Edit: You arn't looking to sell your D50 then?

The D40s on ebay are on average more expensive than the D50 =P lol

Personally I love my olympus. ive got the e500, but the e400 is nice too. the supersonic wave filter is awesome, keeps all my shots nice and clean. quality and comfort are also great.

you can see some of my shots at http://topieces.deviantart.com, most the newer shots are with my olympus.
