Pricing question?
The company I work for wants me to make single page websites for employees. This will only include a photo, bio and social media icons. I have never done something so basic I don't know what to charge per website. Any suggestions?

To be honest, it is almost worth doing it for free and get on a good side of your bosses. Kind gestures and favours sometimes go a long way.

If you do it for free here they will expect it in the future. Start by charging the same price per hour that they pay you for what you normally do.

The business is commission based and giving away for free is really bad there. Free equals never ending requests for other work. Those who pay really want one. I just normally do more complex websites and being asked to to single page bios and asked for a price stumped me.

Okay, wasn't sure what the business was, but regardless of what it does, charge your regular hours rate, as VG mentioned above.

You need to bill for your time. Think of it as setting up and configuring X number of websites. In general, it takes about 1 hour to setup and configure a site. Some of you may disagree, but think about it in terms of configuring the DNS to point to the correct name server, setting up Google Analytics, setting up Google Webmaster Tools, setting up Bing Webmaster tools. You'll be doing this for each domain. It adds up. Then you'll be resizing the photos and God only knows what quality those will be at. Hopefully they are professional photos. Don't forget the original design template and how long that will take. Don't do ANYTHING for free. Ever.

I'd charge for your time.
How long do you think it would take to complete?
You also need to decide whether your costs are covered in that hour and what profit you want to make on it too.
What would you be happy with? Normally I can look at a project and say to myself "Looks cool, I'd enjoy it, I'd do it for $xxx".
