Suggestion:
I don't see why you block guests from viewing topics, I don't think people would leech on a general discussion forum, so I think you should allow guests to view the content so they can see what kind of topics there are.

On the topic of closed forums (to guests) I'd agree with Sahil completely. There's really no bigger turn-off for me than landing on a homepage (or worse, a link to a thread) and being informed that I need to register to see it.
