Old  PPC, is it worth it?

Do you think it is worth it to promote your website through PPC programs like Google Adwords? What types of websites do you think will be profitably advertised using PPC? I notice that some Adsense ads were promoting non commercial websites, or websites which didn't have something to sell.

All websites have something to sell or they wouldn't be advertising. It may not be obvious at the outset or could be just to get a subscriber list but you can be sure, they're getting something out of it down the road. PPC is a great advertising method but you need to know what you're doing or be prepared to lose money at first.

Well some hobbyists can afford to advertise via PPC despite profit not being their main objective so that's a possible explanation as I myself run a few non-commercial sites where I lose a bit of money running them and don't really focus on making that money back as I really enjoy the subject matter. As for it being worthwhile, if you know what you're doing and if it's within your budget, definitely worth a shot. However, if you're new don't be scared off either, just don't expect miracles nor spend too much if you can't afford to lose.

If you know how to target the correct keywords and set the bid just right then you should definitely use it. It can bring in lots of traffic and potential customers if you do it correctly.

If you're not in a competitive niche then PPC could work for you.

Highly competitive niches have full time PPC marketers working on their campaigns and you'll likely be wasting your money.

Takes lots of research and testing to get a truly optimized PPC campaign performing properly

It's worth every penny but you have to do a lot of tweaking, split testing and monitoring, you don't want to pay more than what you can sell.

The most important thing is PPC could be worthless if you don't have a landing page that can convince people to buy your service/product.

As a business website, Google Adwords is a good way to show its products, which can increase visibility and awareness, there is no excuse for a business not to promote its website through PPC programs.
