The problem is attracting new members and keeping quality passive.
Before we indulge in how to's, we should ask ourselves why we're even here? We offer nothing unique. Our wild west marketplace lacks far too much functionality to reignite plausible sales, and discussion is over run by dumb people.
It's important Artashes adapts us to more than a forum and gives us a reason to exist.

I remember joining on my old account years ago in '06 at the height of TFL. It seems that people move from forum to forum..The hard part is having something unique and colorful to keep members here.

What more than a forum do you suggest we become?

- I can't see us ever competing with stackoverflow in the programming spectrum, especially when we're unable to do basic syntax highlighting correctly. Why?
- We're gunning for a marketplace like Flippa, absolutely nothing special or unique there. Why?
- Our design forums are less functional than yaxay's were. Why?
- I hardly ever see staff address real issues. Too busy playing janitors?
- We have had TF info and Marketplace above core forums for years. Why?
- Months were invested into a plugin that pays to post. Why?
- Why are we still getting duplicate URLs in Google? I believe someone pointed this out long before I.
What more than a forum do you suggest we become?

If we continue as a forum we should at least do the basics right, and move away from this dated structure.

So what do you suggest we do then? All you have outlined is what you consider to be problems. What would need to be implemented / changed so we move away from this 'dated structure'?

I am lost for words reading yet another thread like this. I used to be the eternal optimist for this place but over the years I've come to realise that its just not going to happen.
Can someone tell how, in any way, shape or form have we progressed from the previous takeover? I can't see anything new, only things have gotten worse.
Sorry to put a downer on it all, I'd love this place to prove me wrong.

t0m your correct, things have got worse!
I have saw no marketing anywhere else that would help drive new members here.
No makeover to the site that was promised a year ago. Just another boring group of staff members who promote posting rubbish in general discussion. I keep hearing about a plugin that has been worked on for months that pays for posting......ummmm hire a true programmer and it won't take months and if you do your research there is already such a plugin.
I have also been a optimist for this place but come to realise that its not going to happen, there seems to be no urgency to turning things around and when we push the subject were told that he works a full time job and runs other numerous websites.....are we not that important that these other websites take priority over here? If so it will make it easy to make the decision to split.
