Ripped, Inspiration or Imitation?
A rough but interesting article about graphic design processes and legitimacy.

Involves inspiration between Bryan Le and Eleven2, Bejing olympics inspired by another developers game, of course another 2advanced rip and a poor designer not only ripped but the ripper took the money out of his pocket too!

Read the article.

Digg the article.

You shouldn't target one person if you can't target everyone who is is "imitating" Eleven2.

Might as well say Eleven2 is imitating Apple because they have a large image on the front of their website. Same goes for This*, just because you have a large image makes you imitating another website with a large image?

Eleven2 also has round boxes, totally a rip of Apple.

You must have something against Bryan...

The truth, actually.

I used to go to free forums like InvisionFree, and ever since I came to vBulletin forums like this one and Digital Point, I've noticed that people really don't understand what ripping is. Ripping is directly taking something from someone else that you haven't designed. If you copy something that someone else has designed, and what you've done is your own work, it's inspired. It's not that hard to understand.

Let me simplify this for you.

You shouldn't target one person who's wrongfully doing X if you can't target everybody who is wrongfully doing X

Cop out.

No, I'm not going to argue the legitimacy of inspiration, ripping, 'designer style', or being a trend whore.

If you look at it properly, everything you see online will directly/indirectly affect a design you do if you're a designer. It's how you get ideas, it's how the mind works. There's no doubt that a designer could have recreated something similiar or with elements to that which he's seen in the past without even knowing he's done it, which could be the case with Bryan.

Yeah if you ask me, you should be comparing eleven2 against Apple.

Have you guys even read the article and comments?

Bruis to Eleven has be strikeout and he has since apologies to Byran Le. Way before Garrett's post.

Byran explained the full situation as well in his blog. Information Brendan did not know of.

Although Brendan just one tip, I would verify before making a post on your blog.

Xphic, if he really cared about not misrepresenting Brius or Bryan due to his mistake, he would've removed it completely. What's the point of striking it out when it's still clearly legible. Horrible attempt and trying to compare an 'imitation', imo. The big image is currently a trend. Apple, eleven2, this*, Brius, and hundreds, if not, thousands of others.

Ill keep this short and sweet.

I wanted to invoke conversation on what other people think on the issue, one conclusion between eleven2, brius and thiswebhost is that they are following a "trend" that apple.com has set.

I didn't want to remove the original post, so people would understand the full comments of Bryan. Instead if I removed it, people would of been like "okay.. wtf, I think he hasn't really said anything bad about Brius, he just pointed something out.. isn't he allowed to project his own opinion? *Opens comment to rant to Bryan*"

Edit: Also nice post 6creations.
