Old  What is the general thought on drop-down navigation?

Personally, I try to avoid drop-down navigation, especially multi-level. It can be useful in some situations, but most of the time there are better ways to do things.

I wrote an article on my site that goes a little bit deeper about my feelings on multi-level drop-down menus.

What is the general thought here?

I think your stance on dropdown navigations is a little short-sighted when it comes to user experience. When used correctly, dropdown navigations definately have their advantages:
  • Easier: what do you think is more user-friendly: having to hover over a couple of elements or clicking 3 links to finally find what you are looking for
  • Faster: say you have nested something so that you need to click 3 links. Wouldn't it be much more user-friendly to click one link
  • Blind visitors: though rare, what when you have a person who is blind visits your site. Do they have to click 3 times and read through 3 pages to get where they want to or should they simply click once
I'd recommend doing some more thinking before making such bold statements. It doesn't give a good image when you make such statements and have so little to back them up.
