I've used JW Player plenty of times, highly recommend it. As for coding your own, I guess if you wanted some extra functionality and wanted to heavily customize it, that would be your best bet but that would definitely increase the cost for your client as well as require much more effort on your part so I'd recommend sticking with an existing solution if you're not a strong coder.
